I had been planning to leave for two years and had never applied anywhere. The first session did not go how I expected; nobody helped me write a CV. We spent ninety minutes on why I kept not applying.

By session four I had a name for it, and a very small weekly action that frightened me slightly. I applied in month three and started in month five. The job matters less than the fact that I now notice when I am doing the same thing again.

I signed up for the cohort expecting to sit quietly at the back. That lasted about twenty minutes. Hearing someone else describe my exact situation, and watching the group be kind but completely unconvinced by their excuses, did something a private conversation never had.

Our cohort still meets on the first Sunday of the month, fourteen months later.
